Alexander Valley Vineyards

-Type: Cabernet Sauvignon

-Year: 2006
-Region: California (Alexander Valley)
-Cork: Natural
-Alcohol: 14%

This approachable Cabernet was a real delight to indulge upon. KB and I did considerably less talking than usual while reviewing this 2006 Alexander Valley wine. Instead, we spent an hour or so going "Oooooo..... Ahhhhhh..... Wine good..... Me want more." The initial aroma was excellent and left us feeling genuinely enthusiastic towards the prospect of drinking this California vintage. Thankfully, the taste did not disappoint... Smooth tannins and a robust black cherry flavor made this wine enjoyable enough for KB to declare - "I want to bathe in this wine." At twenty bucks a bottle that would be one expensive bath... But in our humble opinion, well worth every penny!

UnCorked Field Trip
King Estate

KB, Katt and I
recently took a day trip to King Estate Winery. We had a frolicking good time and were very impressed by the quality of there many wines. The experience prompted me to write an article to be featured in Springfield Connection magazine! Scroll below to view the article and to see additional images of our romp in the vineyard...

Pinot Evil

-Type: Pinot Noir

-Year: ???
-Region: France
-Cork: Synthetic
-Alcohol: 12.5%

Strangely enough this bottle did not have a printed vintage date. After googling and maybe even some oogling I found a few sources claiming it's a 2005. I can't confirm this however...What I can confirm is KB and I where ever so happy to drink this bottle of Pinot Evil. The wine had a good initial flavor and a cute label displaying the "Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil" monkey's. All in all this wine was a winner, but my decision to pair it with homemade chocolate chip cookies(Courtesy of Jason L.) was regrettable.

Mad Housewife

-Type: White Zinfandel

-Year: 2006
-Region: California
-Cork: Natural
-Alcohol: 11.5%

Bad, really bad! This wine is almost as horrid as the eighties haircut depicted on the Mad Housewife label. The initial peach bouquet was pleasant. The humorist label and use of natural corks are reason enough for some kudos. Theres only one major problem...taste! Described as "freezer burn in a bottle", "rancid plums" and "a cheap wine cooler mixed with grain alcohol." The fact that neither KB or myself could bare the burden of finishing this bottle speaks volumes. The label states "Dinner be Dammed" and we say "So is this Wine."

3 Blind Moose

-Type: Cabernet Sauvignon

-Year: 2006
-Region: California
-Cork: Synthetic
-Alcohol: 13.5%

Well...Barbecued tofu burgers were not paired with this smooth Cabernet, as suggested by the irreverent label, but KB did serve up some tasty Tofurkey slices that filled the void quite nicely. In between insights into how crazy our mothers are we managed to articulate such descriptors as "Smells Caberneteee" and "Tastes Cherryeee." For all those mammals looking to thirst their quench with a moderately priced red, give 3 Blind Moose a try, you won't be disappointed.
